The speech language pathologist (SLP) works with people who have problems with speech, language, thinking, and swallowing. SLPs, as defined by ASHA, are professionals who hold the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), which requires a master's, doctoral, or other recognized postbaccalaureate degree. ASHA-certified SLPs complete a supervised postgraduate professional experience and pass a national examination as described in the ASHA certification standards, (2014). Demonstration of continued professional development is mandated for the maintenance of the CCC-SLP. SLPs hold other required credentials where applicable (e.g., state licensure, teaching certification, specialty certification).
This list does not include all disorders SLPs are qualified to treat. Please contact us to find out if we are a good fit for your needs.
Initially, we will discuss your concerns over the phone. Depending on your needs, it may be appropriate to complete a screening or in some cases a formal, standardized evaluation may be beneficial. We will schedule a mutually agreeable time for us to come to your home or if appropriate, set up a time for a teletherapy session. We will work together to determine appropriate goals for you or your loved one. The recommended frequency and duration of treatment will depend on your needs. However, typically treatment sessions are 1-3 times per week for 30-60 minutes in duration.
